RF scanner stuck or recording incorrect quantities

What to do when an RF scanner freezes or gets stuck in an incomplete receiving or putaway task in DeltaWMS, leaving a receipt in an intermediate status.

Written by Tom Higgs

This issue occurs when an RF scanning task does not complete correctly, or records an incorrect quantity (such as zero units picked when the items were fully picked). This can leave a receipt, putaway, or pick in an intermediate status, or result in incorrect SSCC labels being generated.

What to do

The steps below apply to goods-in tasks (receiving, putaway) and goods-out tasks (picking, pallet splits, label printing). If you are trying to correct a zero-pick recording, read the warning below before proceeding.

  1. Restart the RF gun by powering it off and on again.

  2. Log back in to DeltaWMS on the RF gun and check whether the task status has cleared.

  3. If the receipt or task remains stuck, contact support. Do not attempt to process the same transaction again, as this may create duplicate records.

⚠️ Important: Do not process the same transaction a second time if it appears stuck or has recorded zero. This applies equally to pallet splits, label printing, and bulk receiving operations. Our support team will check the transaction records and resolve the issue safely.

⚠️ Warning: Correcting a zero-pick recording via the Goods Out Confirmation screen will confirm the pick off immediately. Do not proceed if you are not ready to dispatch the order. Contact support instead and we will assist you with the correction safely.

Information to provide to support

Contact support and include the following details:

  • The goods receipt (GRN) or pick or order number.

  • A description of what the scanner was doing when the issue occurred (for example, scanning items during putaway, or confirming a picked quantity).

  • A screenshot or description of any error message shown on the RF gun.

  • Confirmation of whether the issue affects one RF gun or multiple devices.
