RF guns failing to connect to Staylinked server

RF guns failing to connect to Staylinked server.

Written by Arthur Ashdown

If your RF guns cannot connect to the Staylinked server, the cause is usually an IP address mismatch, a VPN or port issue, or a licensing problem. Work through the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.

Check the IP address configuration

An IP address mismatch between the RF scanner and the Staylinked server is a common cause of connection failures.

  1. Check the IP address configured on the RF scanner.

  2. Check the IP address of the server running Staylinked.

  3. If the addresses are different, update the scanner's IP address to match the server. If you need assistance with this, contact your hardware provider.

Check VPN and port connectivity

Ask your IT team to confirm that the following are in place between your local site and the Access-hosted Staylinked server:

  • The VPN connection is open and stable.

  • The required ports are open.

If VPN and ports are confirmed open but the issue persists, contact support with a photo of the RF gun screen and confirmation that VPN and ports are open.

Staylinked licence issues

If your RF guns show a licensing error, your Staylinked licence may have expired or may not support the current number of connected devices. Contact support and include:

  • A photo of the RF gun screen showing the error.

  • The number of RF devices attempting to connect.

  • Confirmation of whether the issue affects all devices or specific ones.
